Data Harmony® Users Group (DHUG) 2013 Meeting
(Updated May 17, 2013) Preparations are underway for the Tenth annual Data Harmony® Users Group (DHUG) Meeting, February 10th through 14th 2014! Watch this space for more information as it becomes available.
The Ninth Annual DHUG Meeting wrapped up on February 22nd, 2013. The meeting was our longest ever, at five days of training and presentations, and our best attended.
The meeting kicked off on February 18th with a day of instruction on the Data Harmony software suite, presided over by Alice Redmond-Neal and Jack Bruce. Bob Kasenchak demonstrated MAIChem, one of our longest-established implementations of Data Harmony.
Tuesday and Wednesday featured more than a dozen case studies and presentations from software users both within Access Innovations and among our client base. Highlights on Tuesday included a features update from Access Innovations president Marjorie M.K. Hlava, a case study of the ongoing process of implementing Data Harmony for AIP Press’s Scitation system by Evan Owens of AIP Press, and a discussion by Gena San Nicolas of Access Innovations on the changes in mindset needed to get the most out of Data Harmony component MAIstro. Among the presentations on Wednesday were two features on visualization of data, one from Access Innovations editor Ben Barnes and the other from Kevin Boyack of SciTech Strategies, Inc.
Full-day training sessions on Thursday and Friday were a new addition for 2013. On Thursday Jack Bruce, Gabe Carr, Bob Kasenchak, Alice Redmond-Neal and Gena San Nicolas hosted a hands-on training session on Thesaurus Master®, a core component of the Data Harmony Suite, and on Friday Jack, Gabe, Bob, and Alice hosted a similar session giving guests the opportunity to work with MAIstro. All day on Thursday and Friday members of the Access Innovations staff provided individual consultation and instruction on Data Harmony for interested guests.
In between presentations the attendees were provided with food and drink on-site. After hours staff and guests gathered at the Hampton Inn Albuquerque Midtown for a welcome reception on Monday and at the Albuquerque Aquarium’s Shark Reef Café for dinner by the shark tank on Tuesday.
The Tenth Annual DHUG Meeting will be February 10th-14th, 2014. We hope you’ll come back and see us in Albuquerque again next year!
